What it costs
Most drainage firms will not put this in writing. Here is exactly how we charge, so you can work out roughly where you stand before you ring.
- 01
No call-out charge
You are not charged for us getting into the van, and you are not charged for the journey to you. However far away we start from, that part is ours.
- 02
The clock starts when we arrive
Not when you ring, not when we set off. From the moment we are on your drive. Traffic on the A1 is our problem, not something you pay for.
- 03
A fixed hourly rate, for everything
One rate, whatever the job. Blockages, surveys, repairs, groundworks. The rate does not change and there is no separate price list depending on what we find.
- 04
We do not give fixed quotations
Deliberately. Drainage is too unpredictable to price honestly before we have seen it, and a fixed quote for work nobody has looked at is either padded to cover the worst case or it is going to change. The charge is for the hours the work actually takes.
- 05
Same rate at 3am as at 3pm
No out-of-hours premium, no weekend surcharge, no bank holiday rate. A drain that fails on Christmas Eve costs what it would cost on a Tuesday.
- 06
The rate is for the time, not the outcome
Worth being plain about, because it is the thing people assume rather than ask. Not every drain can be won. A collapsed or badly displaced run will not jet clear however long anyone spends on it, and at that point it has stopped being a blockage and become a repair. The hourly rate covers the time spent either way. It is the only honest way to charge for something nobody can see beforehand.
- 07
Nothing gets bigger without you hearing about it first
If a job turns out to be more than it looked from the surface, that is a conversation at the time rather than a surprise at the end.
Things that affect how long a job takes
- How far along the run the blockage sits
- Whether there is a usable chamber to work from, or access has to be made
- Whether it is grease and silt, which jets out, or roots, which have to be cut
- Whether the drain needs a camera afterwards to find out why it happened
- For repairs, the length, the depth and what has to come up and go back
Where you can save money
Ring before it is an emergency. A drain that is slow costs less to deal with than one that has backed up into the house.
Do not pay for a survey you do not need. A drain that runs properly afterwards often does not need a camera down it at all.
Check whose drain it is first. Where a fault sits on a shared or public run it is Yorkshire Water's to fix rather than yours to pay for. Tracing a run needs it flowing, so that question belongs after clearance rather than before.
24 hours, 7 days a week
Ring and ask what the rate is.
We can usually tell you what is likely wrong before we set off, and roughly what it will take to put right.
No call-out charge. We only charge from arrival.
